Architect's Residence
Sundarpur, Chandaka
Located in a naturally blessed environment away from the hustle and bustle of the busy city , this home was designed to have a seamless flow of spaces from the exterior to the interior. The basic concept revolved around a centrally enclosed courtyard which connects and defines all the other spaces within the house. The courtyard frames the sky through a sloped glass roof ( facing North ) which brings in the soft north light all year long while acting as a natural ventilation device. A single muted off white colour tone was used for the interiors with plenty of natural light available to all the spaces. The building exterior was designed as two solid ( mildly classical ) masses which are sliced by a sloped modern glass plane. The concept was to have a play between solid and the ethereal...an interplay of light and shade.
